How Can I Help?
-Kellie,   MAY 2011
I am so very grateful you rescued little Latte, and that you chose me to be her Mom!  Each day she becomes more confident, she is wagging her tail now, and seems very very happy.  We go for walks every day, she's meeting new people and dogs all the time.

The dogs have quickly become part of our family!  They are a perfect fit.

I just wanted you to know that Jewel has settled in just like she has lived here all of her life. She is eating well and of course sleeping in the big bed since the first night. She now plays with her pink dacshund dog and loves to snuggle on the couch. I want you ladies to know what a wonderful job you are doing for these dogs. And most of all thank you for helping me fill that void in my heart.

After finally purchasing our home we knew we wanted to find a companion pet for our Boston Terrier Abby.  I wanted to get a puppy and looked through several breeds that we were interested in when I found Mooch (formerly known as Scooter) on the dachshund listings.  I fell in love instantly!  ... That night when he came home to us we were so excited.  He is a bundle of fun, so curious and very smart.  Abby is enjoying having a companion and our family is now complete.  Thank you petfinder for all you do.  And thank you On My Way Home Dachshund Rescue for taking such good care of our boy!

We are always in desperate need of donated items, including the following:

  • Puppy pads.
  • Leashes.
  • Doggie blankets.
  • Doggie pillows.
  • Crates and carriers.
  • Towels.
  • Gift cards for Petco, Petsmart, Costco, or The Soggy Dog.

  • Volunteers are needed to help with adoptathons (petting, holding, walking, and interacting with the dogs).

  • Transportation (picking up foster dogs for adoptathon events and bringing them back to their foster homes).

  • Fund-raising (helping with our fund-raising events to raise money for the rescue dogs).

  • If you are creative and crafty, we could always use more volunteers in our sewing and crafting circle, as we make many items within the rescue to earn money to pay the medical bills for our rescue dogs.

  • And more....

Fostering is the most important need within a rescue and we value our foster families immensely.  By taking the rescue dogs into their homes, the foster families allow the dogs to relax into a home environment, feel settled and safe, and gain the confidence that they need to successfully transition into their forever homes.  As a foster family, you provide the love and the home while we provide everything else that the dog requires (including food, harness, leash, vet care, etc.).  We have a very active foster network within our rescue, so you will never feel alone and there is always someone that you can call with any questions throughout the fostering process.  If you are interested in fostering, please feel free to contact us by phone or email with any questions you may have.  To fill our a Foster Application, click anywhere inside of this box.  Thank you for considering fostering.
